Producer, Scriptwriter and Creator of the top rated sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" Philip Rosenthal and his actress wife Monica took time out of their busy schedule to visit the Ma'aleh Film School this week.  Mr. Rosenthal is here in Israel to promote his upcoming documentary series on the Shaarei Tzedek Hospital.

This year's brand new Ma'aleh films will be premiered one week after the graduation ceremony at Cinemateque Jerusalem, Monday December 21st at 7:15 pm.

Save the date!  Ma'aleh's graduation ceremony and 20th anniversary celebration will take place December 14th 2009, 4th night Hannuka, at the Cinemateque Jerusalem, as part of the Jewish Film Festival Jerusalem 2009.

The films "Thy Face"by Orit Rosenberg and "Persian Lullaby" by Keren Hakak will be screened at the Jewish Film festival, Jerusalem, December 2009

 "Tiri Tiri Pom Pom" (dir. Noam Demsky) and "Angels in the Jerusalem Skies" (dir. Yitzchak Sverdlov) will be screened at the Opus film festival at Jerusalem Cinemateque, 29 November 2009

 The film "A Shabbos Mother" by Inbar Namdar won the prize for Best Drama and the film "House 103" by Ohad Domb won the prize for Best Documentary at the Gold Panda Films for Television Festival in Swechan, China. The films "Mika" by Meirav Hatav and "Separation" by Tzofnat David Levi were also screened at the festival.

Mr. George Eldred of the acclaimed AspenShorts film festival arrived at Ma'aleh for a visit today. Mr. Eldred presented a number of prizewinning Aspen shorts at Cinemateque Jerusalem on Thursday night, November 5th.

The director Anat Tzuira, a Ma'aleh graduate, won first prize for Best Documentary Film at the Haifa Film Festival for her new documentary, "Sorreret"

The films "Luz", by Yale Kaniel and "Rosenzweig, Born to Dance" by Keren Hakak will be screened at an international documentary film festival in China, December 2009

The Film "And Thou Shalt Love", by Chaim Elbaum, will be screened at the Washington DC Jewish Film Festival in December 2009.

A "Tribute to Ma'aleh" at Cinemateque Paris: In December 2009 the Cinemateque Paris will be showing a selection of Ma'aleh Films as part of their Israel Film Festival. The films "Rosenzweig, Born to Dance", "Willingly", "Shira", "And Thou Shalt Love" and Cohen's Wife" will be screened.

  The series "Srugim", created by Maaleh graduates Layzie Shapira and Chava Dibon, received Best Series of the Year, Best Script of the Year, Best Actress and Best Wardrobe Design from the Israel Academy of Television at the 2009 awards ceremony this week.

Amelia Baron, a 1st year student scriptwriter at Ma'aleh, wrote the script for "John Doe", a short film which won the audience favorite award and producer's choice, at the Jerusalem film festival.

The Film "And Thou Shalt Love" has been accepted to festivals in Strasbourg, London, Hong Kong and Rome.  The director Chaim Elbaum will be present at the "Religion Today" Festival in Rome in October and will be participating in artist workshops.  At the end of October he will be participating in the Israeli film festival in New York.

The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival celebrates 20 years of creativity at Ma'aleh.
Four Ma'aleh films will be shown at 3 screenings on July 26th, August 3rd and August 4th in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Berkeley.

The 20th Anniversary celebrations of the Ma'aleh Film School were opened last night with the Israel  premier screening of "The Children of the Silk Road", by award winning producer Mr. Arthur Cohn.
